Ballarat news identity Roy Taylor has died after several years of illness.
The 87-year-old started his career in Britain in 1948 before moving to Ballarat and serving at BTV 6 from 1962 when he set up the Ballarat TV newsroom.
One of his most memorable interviews was with Prince Charles during the 1983 Royal Tour.
Roy also volunteered hundreds of hours of work in the late 1990s setting up a news archive at what was by then Win TV.
Around 1998-2000 he also did a regular radio segment for the University of Ballarat, where he was a much-loved media officer.
He leaves behind wife Pam of 59 years, two children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A service to remember Roy's life will be held at the Doveton Park Funeral Centre on Monday [February 17].
