Firies spend hours battling Wombat-Lerderderg blaze

Moorabool Police are investigating a suspicious fire on the edge of the Wombat and Lederderg state forests.

The CFA and Forest Fire Management was called to an area near Trentham Rd Dales Creek around 5pm Monday, to reports of a column of smoke

Dozers have been working on the edge of the fire

Firefighters have also spent several hours blacking out the area.

It was under control by 8.50pm.

The region has not has a major bushfire since 1983 and nearby Blackwood is considered as one of the most at-risk fire communities in Victoria.

** Meanwhile there’s been a truck fire on the Western Highway at Buangor, near the corner of Colonial Road.

The blaze was reported at 4am (Tuesday).

It was continuing to cause traffic delays on the highway this morning.
