A driver's had a lucky escape this morning after crashing their car into a tree near Cardigan.
The male driver aged in his early 20s is believed to have veered onto the wrong side of the road on Remembrance Drive near Dowling Road around 6:20am.
The car then took out a tree that lines Remembrance Drive on the way to Burrumbeet.
He was taken to the Ballarat Base Hospital with minor injuries, while an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson says he experienced a medical issue while behind the wheel.
He was the only passenger in the vehicle.
Police say it's fortunate the incident wasn't more serious, with some of the trees on Remembrance Drive far less forgiving than the one he struck.
