The City of Ballarat has adopted its council budget for the next financial year.
Among the proposals in the budget that's received the green light from councillors include $15 million over three years for precint works at Bakery Hill and Bridge Mall that will see the Mall re-opened.
Civic Hall is also set to receive $2 million for stage two of its works, which includes a commercial kitchen and upgrades to its stage to help attract a wider variety of events.
The passing of the budget also means that rates have increased, being capped by council at 2.5 per cent. With rates at this current level, they're expected to help bring in $192 million for expenditure, along with charges.
