Police have charged a man following a series of alleged car fires in Soldiers Hill between January and May 2019.
Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested the 47-year-old man in Soldiers Hill just before 7am today.
The Soldiers Hill man was charged with 10 counts of arson and is expected to appear before the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court later today.
Acting Superintendent Dan Davison said he wanted to thank the local community for their patience and assistance during this investigation.
“Often these kinds of investigations can be quite complex however we want to reassure the community that police take these incidents very seriously,” said A/Supt Davison.
“Understandably the community has been very concerned about these recent fires but we want to the Ballarat community to know police are committed to arresting and holding offenders to account.”
