A new kitchen has been unveiled at Ballan District and Community Health just in time for Christmas.
The refurbishment includes installation of a freezer room, a four burner gas cooktop, stainless steel benches and shelving.
The new kitchen will allow its staff to double its cooking capacity to 4,000 meals per week and offer more food choices to aged care residents, patients and staff.
A weekly meal is also prepared at the kitchen for the Ballan Senior Citizens Centre, as well as for those who depend on Meals on Wheels.
The project received over $100,000 from the State Government's Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, as well as $10,000 from the Grosvenor Foundation for a new oven, and more than $22,000 in community fundraising.
