The final designs of what Ballarat's often troubled Bridge Mall will look like have been unveiled by council today.
Expect to see more trees, new street furniture, bluestone paving, informal meeting spaces, event spaces light projections on buildings and the road opened in a West to East direction.
The redevelopment will also feature a portal that showcases the Yarrowee River flowing underneath the street.
Preliminary works to transform the mall into Bridge Street are expected to begin this year with major civil works commencing 2023.
Construction is expected to take 12 to 18 months.
The city had budgeted $15 million for the project, that number now likely to be closer to $18 million with further funding to be sought to implement the full vision.
