Council re-allocates 700k for footpaths and outdoor dining

Ballarat councillors have voted to redirect funds from a one-million dollar Covid relief package.

Seven-hundred-and-fifty-thousand will be put towards footpaths and additional outdoor dining infrastructure, while 75-thousand will be spent on advertising to entice Melbournians back to Ballarat.

Mayor Daniel Maloney says some will go towards pop-up entertainment as well.

"The art sector in particular has done it tough and we know the sector through a range of live performances will encourage people back to the regions," he said.
