Gun laws enforced during Ballarat bikie raids

Police have raided 4 properties in Ballarat linked to illegal firearms among bikies.

5 properties in Melbourne's west were also searched yesterday morning as part of the sting.
Men from Wendouree, Alfredton and Mount Clear were all given strict gun ownership orders.

“Firearm Prohibition Orders serve as a powerful tool to hold certain individuals accountable when it comes to the use of illicit firearms.”

“The safety of the Ballarat community is our number one priority and we make no apologies for deliberately making it difficult for these people to access, use and store firearms," said Acting Inspector Shaun Bingham, Ballarat Region Investigation and Response Manager.

Firearm Prohibition Orders are a legislative provision that give police specific powers to proactively respond to, disrupt and prevent firearm-related crime in Victoria and keep the community safe.
