Wheels are finally turning on a state election promise to build a $10 million food security facility in Ballarat.
Tenders have gone out to construct the hub, which would be owned and operated by Foodbank.
John Clonan of the Ballarat Salvation Army says the pandemic has slowed the project down.
"My understanding, following a Food Access Network meeting this week, is that the tenders have been put out for the land and tenders have been put out for a building."
"The project is due for completion in 2022," Mr Clonan said.
Clarification on the exact timeline of the project has been sought from the State Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison.
