Doors to swing open at Council run facilities and Sovereign Hill


A raft of council facilities will open across Ballarat today following the easing of restrictions at 11.59pm last night.

Doors to the Aquatic Centre, Art Gallery, Mining Exchange and Eureka Centre will re-open as will the Her Majesty's Theatre Box Office with plans underway for a return of performances soon.
Parent Place will re-open after the Queen's Birthday long weekend on Tuesday.

Civic Hall will remain closed due to ongoing works at the building. 

Meantime, one of Australia's premier tourist attractions will re-open tomorrow.

Ballarat's Sovereign Hill will swing open its gold-rush doors to visitors from regional areas right across the long weekend, with full trading from Saturday June 19.

Narmbool and AURA will remain closed to the public until June 19.

In further good news for Ballarat's tourism sector 'Winter Wonderlights' will commence as planned on Friday June 25.

In previous years the outdoor light show has attracted thousands of visitors to Ballarat at traditionally one of the quietest times of the year.
