Ballarat experiencing baby boom nine months on from lockdown


Just over nine months have passed since Victoria’s second lockdown and Ballarat… unsurprisingly… is experiencing a baby boom.

More than 150 babies were born in April, including 10 in a single day alone.

BHS Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Leanne Shea says the numbers have kept the maternity ward very busy.

"That's up about 20 to 30 more on average and overall we will probably experience a 15 to 20 per cent increase on last year," she said
