130-million in capital works set aside in draft budget

The Wendouree sports precinct and Bridge Mall upgrades are among big-ticket items headlining council’s 130-million capital works program in this year’s draft budget.

Also included is six-million for the Doveton Street Library and over a million for footpaths and Ballarat’s parks and gardens.

Council CEO Evan King says the funds, which includes more than 30-million of capital money, was allocated based on findings from public feedback.

"The budget is getting back to doing what local government does, such as investing in services and infrastructure and we have a really significant capital investment this year," he said.
