The heat is on as summer returns to Western Victoria from today with four out of the next five days set to sizzle in Ballarat.
The bureau is forecasting a top of 32C today, 29C tomorrow and 32C on Saturday, with Sunday the hottest day in the forecast period at 37 degress, earlier forecasts had Sunday hitting 39C.
Monday will be hot again with 35C before the wind swings around bringing some relief from the heat by Tuesday with 21C forecast and a 60% chance of showers.
An announcement on total fire ban days is expected closer to the very hot days with V/Line set to implement its extreme heat timetable when temperatures hit 36C and above.
The CFA remains on standby with grass fires extremely likely following a wet spring leading to high fuel loads.
