Return of "Made of Ballarat" campaign welcomed by tourism body
Ballarat Regional Tourism (BRT) have welcomed the City of Ballarat's move to re-introduce the "Made of Ballarat" marketing campaign.
The award winning campaign was controversially dumped when council took back responsibility for the regions tourism marketing after cancelling its funding agreement with Visit Ballarat.
BRT chairman Iain Gunn says the campaign speaks to the creative and rebellious nature of Ballarat's history.
"It was a tremendously successful and award winning creative campaign."
"I really think at the time it spoke to the creative, rebellious nature of Ballarat's European history at least," Mr Gunn said.
Mr Gunn, who also operates Ballarat's Mecure Hotel has reported strong January trading, almost on par with 2020, showing signs that the tourism industry is starting to recover in Ballarat despite state border closures.
