Agenda papers for tonight's City of Ballarat council meeting have revealed an eye watering salary paid to its outgoing CEO.
It's believed Justine Linley, who was sacked following a damning Ombudsman's report back in May took home as much as $640,000, including a redundancy payment.
Mayor Ben Taylor has defended the payment saying she would have been paid that amount even if she had chosen to leave.
Also on the agenda tonight is the selection of a recruitment firm to select the next permanent CEO. There appears to be one local firm in the running with fees for recruitment services ranging between $18,500 and $43,000.
Interim CEO Janet Dore, who has now announced all her new senior directors, will remain in place until a new council Chief is found.
