There's now one year to go until the 2021 Census which is set to provide a valuable snapshot of communities across Ballarat and the nation.
For the first time in history, people will be given a window of time to complete the Census, rather than a single night.
The move is expected to provide more convenience, while delivering a system that is robust and secure.
Andrew Henderson from the ABS says the Census provides an important insight of Australian life, especially in regional area's like Ballarat.
"Census is the only time really that we go to every single regional area and get a snapshot of who they are and how they're travelling."
"Increasingly we hear from regional and rural communities that they need more flexibility, that they're not just like the city," Mr Henderson said.
