An elderly man has endured a dangerous joy ride on the Sunshine Coast after two young men stole the minibus he was in.
The duo got into the parked bus at Maroochydore on Tuesday afternoon after kicking a carer who tried to stop them in the chest, police say.
The men drove off with a 76-year-old Frenchville man on board.
The minibus was allegedly seen driving on the wrong side of the road, running a red light, speeding and driving erratically, sparking a spate of calls to police from the public.
An hour later police used a tyre deflation device to bring it to a stop.
Dean Robert Richards, 23, and Jarred Taylor Strafford, 20, have faced court on a string of offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, deprivation of liberty, robbery in company and burglary.
Richards was also charged with drink driving.
Both were remanded in custody by Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday to appear on August 16.
The elderly man was unharmed but taken to hospital for observation and released.
