Max the blue heeler honoured by Qld police

A deaf and partially blind blue heeler who kept a three-year-old girl safe when she spent a night lost in the Queensland bush has been made an honorary police dog.

Max was on Tuesday presented with a Queensland Police Service collar and medallion, and is the state's first canine to receive the honorary title.

Max became an internet sensation last month when he stayed by Aurora's side after she wandered away from her family property south of Warwick, and then helped lead rescuers to her.
