With the start of the long awaited Container Deposit Scheme only around 4 months away, we still don’t know where in Ballarat the machines to receive the containers will be situated.
The program will reward Victorians with a 10-cent refund for every eligible can, carton and bottle they return.
Deputy Mayor Cr Amy Johnson says council will be working with the government to find suitable locations.

“I would imagine having them in those central locations like supermarket carparks will likely lead to a higher volume of materials being recycled.”
“It’s all about convenience, we don’t want people to have to go out of their way to do this.” Cr Johnson said.
The scheme is set to start in November.
