An environmentally friendly community power company with links to Ballarat is planning to take on the big power retailers.

It’s partnered with Ballarat Renewable Energy and Zero Emissions Inc, or BREAZE, who work on helping locals move towards more resilient and sustainable ways of living.

Last year 100% of Co Power’s electricity revenue went towards tackling the pandemic, while this year the company’s customers will deciding how the revenue is shared.

Peter Reid from Co Power says it’s a balance to keep the company’s values in a tight economy, but they’re focussed on their mission.

“Our aim is basically to provide the lowest cost electricity to our customers, while maintaining the organisation in an economically viable position and return suplusses to the community.”

With the next round of the Andrews Labor Government’s Power Saving Bonus now open, Victorians have the chance to see if the new energy provider will work for them.
