A Ballarat councillor has defended the cities commitment to this month’s Heritage Festival.
It comes after a number of key festival event organisers said they felt less support despite council injecting almost $400,000 into it this year, with that investment forecast to generate a $2.5m economic return.
Cr. Samantha McIntosh says that despite the increase in funding, they always need to support events in other ways.
“There’s always going to be a need for us to scratch the surface, there’s always going to be a need for us to understand why people are asking the questions that they are.”
“I would say to our community that this is a series of events that I will always stay very strong beside because I’ve seen the benefits of it,” Cr. McIntosh said.
The 2024 Heritage Festival runs between May 17 and 26.
