White Night is set to light up Ballarat this Saturday night, with more than 40,000 people expected to flock to the city.
It’s the first time the event has been held in Ballarat since 2019, with 40 light projections, over 100 artists and performers and several food trucks making the event unmissable.
It’s expected it will generate between $3 to $5 million for the Ballarat economy.
Despite the extensive road closures that will be in place, Artistic Director Andrew Walsh says feedback from local businesses has been really positive.
“Everybody is really happy that it’s in Ballarat because it brings an enormous economic benefit to the town.”
“All the motels are full, all the restaurants are booked out, so that’s great for everybody,” Mr. Walsh said.
Meantime, expect to see a large police presence at White Night despite it being billed as a family event.
Acting Superintendent Jason Templar of Ballarat police says they’ll be bringing in external resources including the Mounted Branch and Public Order Response Team.
