The Ballarat Foundation has this week released guidelines for its new Ballarat Women’s Fund.
So far, over $35,000 has been donated through memberships to the fund with cash soon going to a project that responds to issues such as family violence, homelessness or employment.
“The reason we have created this is because we have some data and we are seeing this on a national level that women are disadvantaged,” said Ballarat Foundation CEO Andrew Eales.
“We are talking about issues such as family violence, we are talking about economic disadvantage.”
“Presentations to homelessness services for instance, women are far outweighing men in terms of that disadvantage,” Mr. Eales said.
Members each donate $500 annually to contribute to the fund with the aim of raising $50,000 for the fund in the first year.
