The CFA’s Deputy Chief Officer for the West Region, Brett Boatman, says the gesture from the Western Bulldogs at Sunday’s game in Ballarat has been warmly received.
CFA volunteers formed a Guard of Honour on the ground whilst Dadswell Bridge sheep stud farmer & CFA member Ellie McDonald tossed the coin.
“The west of the state has had a hard couple of months and our volunteers have worked tirelessly to protect their communities,” Mr. Boatman said.
“Our volunteer’s involvement in the Western Bulldogs game on home turf is a fantastic gesture and recognises the hours of time our volunteers have given and reinforces the Bulldogs strong connection to the west,” he said.
20 CFA volunteers made the Guard of Honour on Sunday and 100 were offered general admission.
