Ballarat industrial textile business Bartlett Manufacturing has secured another significant defence force contract.
The company is now making window covers for the army’s fleet of MAN trucks to protect the vehicles ballistic windows from sun damage.
C.E. Bartlett Chief Executive Officer Dave O’Brien says the ADF contracts have boosted job numbers at the Ring Road site with potentially more work to come on other army vehicles.
“Over the last couple of years, we’ve probably doubled our defence area, which is about 10 or 12 direct jobs as well as keeping people in employment.”
“A lot of people focus on new employment, but it’s also about maintaining numbers.”
“In the last 5 or 10 years our company has grown by probably 25 people overall,” Mr. O’Brien said.
