The Bureau of Meteorology is warning Ballarat locals to brace for very wet conditions with up to 40mm of rain forecast across tomorrow and Thursday.
A severe weather warning has been issued for parts of the state including Ballarat, with strong winds and heavy rain from Wednesday morning.
The heaviest falls are likely to be associated with thunderstorm activity and on higher terrain around the Grampians.
Damaging wind gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are likely to develop over the Grampians and central ranges during Wednesday, starting in the west during the early morning and spreading to the central ranges by late morning.
Locations which may be affected include the Grampians, Maryborough, Castlemaine, Kyneton, Ballarat, Daylesford and Mt Baw Baw.
