Police recorded 65 offences on Ballarat and Pyrenees roads during the AFL Grand Final long weekend.
Operation Scoreboard saw police primarily targeting drink and drug driving on the roads, with over 5,000 offences detected across the state during the four-day period.
Local police only reported five drink driving offences, a quarter of one per cent of all tests police conducted.
Senior Sargeant Paul Maslunka of Ballarat Police said the vast majority of drivers were doing the right thing.
“Those 65 offences, when you consider that we scan tens of thousands of cars in the course of the operation, it was a low offence rate.”
“Any offence isn’t acceptable, but the vast majority of drivers out there were really doing the right thing and we really appreciate that,” Senior Sargeant Maslunka said.
