Stuart Reid, the Regional Director of the Grampians for Ambulance Victoria has defended the number of crews available in the Ballarat area after 11pm.
A paramedic, who wishes to remain anonymous, has told this newsroom that the number of nightshift crews has not increased for 15 years despite Ballarat’s booming population.
The same paramedic also claiming that morale is at an all-time low in the service.
“I think three crews is probably an underestimation of what we have available of a night-time.”
“What they are saying to you is that probably the perception is that there is three crews in the Ballarat area, but I think more broadly we certainly have more than three crews available to us overnight, that includes Ballarat and the surrounding areas,” Mr. Reid said.
