The organisers of next year’s Ballarat Marathon say that despite a crowded running market, next year’s inaugural event can work.
A prize pool of $50,000 was announced this week with $6000 each for the winner of the men’s and women’s 42Klm events.
Ballarat Marathon Director Adam McNicol says the wide, flat course will be up there with the best in Australia.
“The whole thing is on roads, big wide roads, so you won’t get that massive clutter of participants like you get down at a massive event like in Melbourne.”
“It’s going to be a really beautiful course, obviously its designed to showcase our great city, but for the runners it’s a really nice course as well,” Mr. McNicol said.
Entries are open now for the Ballarat Marathon two-day festival of running on April 27 & 28 next year.
