This is starting to get out of hand. The general public was asked to help pick the name for a new ferry in Sydney and in the process, have illustrated why we can’t really trust the general public with these things.
Sydney Ferries have a history of being named after prestigious Australians, including Susie O'Neill, Evonne Goolagong and Dawn Fraser. This time however, after being left up to public vote, the name of Sydney’s newest ferry is Ferry McFerryface.
Inspiration for the name no doubt comes from the British Research ship, Boaty McBoatface, which was the result of a similar public vote.
The name Boaty McBoatface received the highest number of votes in this poll as well, however as the name is already taken, we settled for the runner up, Ferry McFerryface.
