A new study has found watching horror movies can help you lose weight.
Researchers at the University of Westminster found that watching 90 minutes of a horror film can burn up to 113 calories which is the same as a 30 minute walk.
Dr Richard Mackenzie from the university said "As the pulse quickens and blood pumps around the body faster, the body experiences a surge in adrenaline.
"It is this release of fast-acting adrenaline, produced during short bursts of intense stress, which is known to lower the appetite, increase the basal metabolic rate and ultimately burn a higher level of calories."
Having said that; if you’re eating popcorn by the fistful while chugging down a litre of coke at the movies it may cancel out these benefits.
The researchers also ranked the horror movies that provided the best result.
At the top of the list was The Shinning, followed by Jaws in second place and the Exorcist in third.
Other movies that received an honourable mention include A Nightmare on Elm Street, Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw and Alien.
