This is bad news for anyone working in retail as we enter the festive season, listening to too much Christmas music is bad for your health!
According to clinical psychologist, Linda Blair, listening to Jingle Bells or Santa Claus is coming to town on repeat could have a negative effect on your brain.
In an interview with Sky News Linda said “People working in the shops at Christmas have to tune out Christmas music because if they don’t, it really does stop you from being able to focus on anything else. You’re simply spending all of your energy trying not to hear what you’re hearing.”
On the flip side of this, a study back in 2005 found that if you achieve the perfect balance between Christmas music and festive smells, it can actually have a positive impact and make you happier.
So I guess the moral of the story is, like everything in life, it’s all about balance.
